- Remove the inside trim stops G.
- Remove the bottom sash D.
- Remove parting beads H.
- Cut the top sash balance cord or chain B.
- Remove the top sash C.
- Remove the sash pulleys from the jambs so that the jambs are unobstructed for accepting the replacement window frame A.
- Clean the opening thoroughly and caulk or use insulation to fill the old holes in the jamb surface F.
NOTE: When installing screws, do not over tighten them as it will pull the frame out of alignment. Tighten the screws snug against the vinyl.
- Fit the sill angle, into front edge of the replacement unit, on the outside bottom of the window. The sill angle may need to be trimmed using sharp utility knife.
- Temporarily hold the window in the opening to verify proper window sizing. If the window fits the opening height without leaving a gap to the outside, the optional head expander is not needed. If a gap is visible above the window unit from the outside or if daylight can be seen above the window from the inside the head expander should be fit over the top of the window unit.
- Apply a liberal caulking bead along the inside of the blind stop at the top and both sides where the window frame will make contact. Also apply caulking beneath the sill angle.
